The story of the Holy Family Shrine begins with the intervention of the Holy Spirit within a small group of people – people from diverse backgrounds who had little chance to meet until the Holy Spirit united them spiritually with a vision of the Holy Family Shrine. Through a unique and divine series of events, they discovered they had been enlightened to the same idea: to create a place off of Interstate 80 for travelers to pray and discover the Catholic faith

Graley’s story is a little unconventional. We are not trained chefs. We don’t have years of experience in food service. But we love family. What we have is a God-given dream and we love ice cream. A lot. As we traveled the world, we would make ice cream and share it with friends and they would tell us we should sell it. We never thought anything about it though. Fast-forward a few years and we moved to Nebraska to start churches. Being church planters didn’t always make ends meet, but God gave us this dream and the drive to see it through.

Eighteen years ago, when my kids were just starting kindergarten, I decided to do the craft show at school. Busy creating and painting, with the kids making stuff right along with me, I enjoyed my first little ‘store’ with my creations, my dad’s creations and my kids’ creations. The second year I participated in the show, my kids, loving helping out the year before, made their own art pieces. Thus begun Robin’s Nest, a compilation of my nest (family’s) artwork. I decided I needed a change and to pursue something that was for myself. I started hitting the thrift stores and painting up un-loved items to make some beautiful creations.

Life gets busy and we forget to take time for ourselves, families and friends. The Uncover the Unexpected is a promotion that encourages visitors to and residents of Sarpy and Cass Counties to explore close to home this summer. Just work your way around both counties to visit these businesses to collect a stamp at each location. You are not required to buy anything to participate, but no doubt the businesses would appreciate your ongoing patronage. Make some time this summer to Uncover the Unexpected!
