Thirty minutes south of Omaha and 60 minutes east of Lincoln is the city of Plattsmouth, where you will find a treasure trove of historic sites, shopping, dining and recreation to make your day trip complete.
Plattsmouth’s Main Street Historic District includes 44 late 19th and early 20th century buildings located along the main street. A visit to the Cass County Historical Museum takes you on a historical journey dating back to when the town was settled. The Cass County Courthouse was built in 1891 and is listed on the Nebraska National Register.

Golfing enthusiasts will want to check out the two great area golf courses: Bay Hills Golf Club and Lake Ridge Golf Course.
Just east of Plattsmouth, bordered by the Platte and Missouri Rivers, is Schilling Wildlife Management Area. Enjoy fishing, picnicking, nature observation, wildlife photography and hiking. Here you may also visit the Confluence of the Platte and Missouri Rivers, a site visited by Lewis and Clark on their trek west. The roads in Schilling have been damaged so you will have to park at the gate and walk in, but the nature experience is still great!
