The 1922 Prairie Mansion Home of Nebraska Hall of Fame author Bess Streeter Aldrich is open on the weekends from 1 to 4 or by appointment for tours, September 19 to November 15. Guests also have the opportunity to view the current exhibit entitled “Grandma’s Kitchen” where they will enjoy reminiscing about their mothers and grandmothers in the “heart of the home, the kitchen.” A wide variety of kitchenware has been provided by several collectors including aprons, Dottie Wolverton, Lincoln; salt & pepper shakers, Millie Buethe, Plattsmouth; and crockery, enamel ware, and other kitchen gadgets, Linda Homan, South Bend. Masks are required. The Aldrich House has been able to re-open during this pandemic in part because of the funding provided by the Humanities Nebraska and the National Endowment for the Humanities as part of the CARES Act.
